The NeedTajikistan has experienced a five-year civil war and political instability since it gained independence from the USSR in 1991. This instability has had a devastating affect on the country's healthcare system. The NCC has made it possible for Khujand's hospitals to now have medical resources for their needy cancer patients, who would otherwise not have access to the medical equipment and supplies necessary to treat their cancer. ![]() |

The Khujand Oncology Center is located in remote northern Tajikistan. This 400-bed hospital treats over 2,000 adult and pediatric cancer patients per year. Tajikistan is a poor country and the majority of patients have very limited means and cannot afford the expensive treatments required of cancer patients. The Center's limited budget also does not allow for the many specific needs for these individuals.
